Telegram notifications and commands

Telegram is a live, self-service integration on every plan. Pairing the managed bot enables commands and incident buttons; a custom bot token plus chat ID provides an alternative connection.

Set it up

1. Open Integrations → Telegram, follow the pairing link, and complete it as the Telegram user who should authorize actions.
2. Alternatively, create a bot with BotFather, add it to the destination, and enter its token and chat ID (-100… for many supergroups).
3. Send a test and verify the target chat.

Paired users can use /status, /oncall, /ack, /silence, and /resolve where their HowlOps permissions allow it. Other group members do not inherit the pairing user's identity.

Security and troubleshooting

Keep bot tokens secret; revoke and issue a new token through BotFather to rotate. If delivery fails, verify the bot remains in the chat, can post, and uses the correct chat ID, then inspect Notification delivery log. See the Telegram Bot API.
