Mobile push notifications
Get alerts on the HowlOps mobile app without configuring a separate notification channel.
Mobile push is a live per-device delivery path, not a workspace channel or a guarantee that a device will display the notification.
What this brings you
Mobile push is the fastest way to notice an incident when you're away from your desk. Unlike the other channels on this page, there's nothing to wire up in Notification channels: once you sign in on the HowlOps mobile app and grant notification permission, your device starts receiving push alerts for the incidents and escalation steps that reach you.
Setup
- Install the HowlOps mobile app and sign in with your workspace account.
- When prompted, grant the app permission to send notifications. If you skipped the prompt, enable it in your device's system settings for the HowlOps app.
- In HowlOps, go to Settings > Profile to confirm push is listed among your notification preferences, and adjust which event types reach you there.
Mobile push delivers through APNs (iOS), FCM, or Expo depending on platform. If a push alert never arrives, first check that the app is signed in and notification permission is granted on the device; this is the most common cause of missing mobile alerts.
Actions on incident notifications
Incident push payloads carry an action category so a supported app version can offer Acknowledge, Silence, and Escalate directly from the notification. Critical incidents use the high-priority incident category; warning and informational incident updates remain actionable without critical framing. After somebody acknowledges an incident, later acknowledgement updates no longer offer the redundant Acknowledge action.
Operational messages that are not tied to an incident, such as an on-call handoff, intentionally open without incident actions. If the buttons are missing on an incident alert, update the mobile app and check that notification actions are allowed in the device settings; you can always perform the same action from the incident screen.

Remove a lost or retired device under Settings → Devices, sign out, and revoke its session. If delivery is missing, check the app version, OS permission, Focus/battery restrictions, device registration, personal preferences, escalation targeting, and delivery evidence. APNs/FCM acceptance does not prove a person saw the alert.
