Matrix notifications

Matrix is a live, self-service, delivery-only channel on every plan. It sends m.room.message text events with a bot access token.

Set it up

1. Create a dedicated Matrix bot account, invite it to the room, and obtain an access token.
2. Enter the public HTTPS homeserver URL, token, and canonical room ID (!…:server) under Integrations → Channels → Matrix.
3. Save and send a test.

HowlOps sends idempotently named message events. It does not read the room, decrypt encrypted-room history, or authorize commands from room members. Use a room in which the bot can post; end-to-end encrypted rooms may not render plain bot events as expected.

Security and troubleshooting

Limit the bot to required rooms and rotate by invalidating its session/access token, updating HowlOps, and retesting. Private and unsafe homeserver destinations are rejected. Verify membership, power level, room ID, and Notification delivery log. See the Matrix Client-Server API.
