Discord notifications

Send incident notifications to Discord using OAuth or a channel webhook.

Discord is a live, self-service channel on every plan. OAuth enables registered commands and signed buttons; a channel webhook provides delivery only.

Set it up

  1. Open Integrations → Discord and use the OAuth connection when offered.
  2. For webhook-only delivery, create a webhook under Server Settings → Integrations → Webhooks, copy its URL, and save it in HowlOps.
  3. Send a test and confirm it arrives in the intended channel.

HowlOps posts incident and recovery messages according to routing and event filters. Webhook messages do not make a Discord member a HowlOps user and cannot authorize incident actions.

Security and troubleshooting

Treat the webhook URL like a password. Delete and recreate it in Discord, then update HowlOps, to rotate it. Confirm the app or webhook still has access to the channel and check Notification delivery log for provider responses. See Discord webhook documentation and Missing notifications.
