Datadog integration

Bring Datadog monitor alerts into HowlOps as incidents, so on-call paging and status pages cover Datadog-monitored services too.

What this brings you

If Datadog is already watching your infrastructure and application metrics, you don't want a second alerting system living in a silo. Connect Datadog as an inbound source and its monitor alerts arrive in HowlOps as incidents, so they go through the same on-call escalation, get the same status-page visibility, and show up in the same incident history as everything else HowlOps monitors directly.

Setup

  1. In HowlOps, open Integrations in the sidebar (the Integration Hub).
  2. Under Bring alerts into HowlOps, click the Datadog source card, then Generate endpoint to get a token-scoped webhook URL.
  3. In Datadog, create a webhook integration pointed at that URL: Integrations > Webhooks > add a new webhook with the HowlOps endpoint as its URL.
  4. On the Datadog monitor(s) you want forwarded, add the webhook as a notification target in the monitor's alert message (@webhook-<name>).
  5. Trigger a test notification from the monitor and confirm the incident appears in HowlOps.
