Jira integration
Get every HowlOps incident as a Jira issue automatically, so engineering work is tracked where your team already tracks it.

What this brings you
When an incident happens, someone eventually has to open a ticket to track the follow-up work: the root cause fix, the postmortem action item, the "we should add monitoring for this" note. Connect Jira and HowlOps opens that issue for you, automatically, the moment the incident fires. Nothing falls through the cracks because someone forgot to file it after the fire was out.
Setup
- In Jira, create (or reuse) an API token for your account: Atlassian account settings > Security > API tokens > Create API token.
- In HowlOps, go to Integrations → Channels → Add channel → Jira.
- Enter your Jira site URL, the project key you want issues created in, your Atlassian account email, and the API token from step 1.
- Save the channel, then trigger a test alert and confirm an issue appears in the target project.
HowlOps opens one Jira issue per incident, titled with the incident summary and linking back to the monitor. It does not currently sync issue status back to HowlOps, so closing the incident in HowlOps and closing the Jira issue are two separate steps.
