Mattermost notifications

Post HowlOps incident messages to a Mattermost channel webhook.

Mattermost is a live, self-service, delivery-only channel on every plan.

Set it up

  1. In Mattermost, enable integrations if necessary and create an Incoming Webhook for the target channel.
  2. Paste its HTTPS URL into Integrations → Channels → Mattermost, save, and send a test.

HowlOps posts alert and recovery messages using a Slack-compatible payload. This connection does not install a Mattermost bot, read messages, or authorize acknowledge/resolve actions.

Security and troubleshooting

Treat the webhook URL as a credential. Revoke and recreate it in Mattermost to rotate, then update and retest the HowlOps channel. Verify integrations are enabled, the webhook is still bound to an accessible channel, and inspect Notification delivery log. See Mattermost incoming webhooks.
