Ntfy notifications

Publish HowlOps alerts to ntfy.sh or a self-hosted ntfy topic.

ntfy is a live, self-service, delivery-only channel on every plan. It can use the public ntfy.sh service or your own HTTPS server.

Set it up

  1. Choose a hard-to-guess topic or create a protected topic; subscribe to it in an ntfy client.
  2. In Integrations → Channels → ntfy, enter the topic, an optional server URL (blank means https://ntfy.sh), and an optional access token.
  3. Save and send a test.

HowlOps publishes incident and recovery messages. It does not manage ntfy users, subscriptions, or retention, and actions in the ntfy client do not change the HowlOps incident.

Security and troubleshooting

Public topic names act like credentials. Prefer access-controlled topics and rotate the token in ntfy and HowlOps together. Confirm the server is reachable by public HTTPS, the token may publish, and inspect Notification delivery log. See ntfy publishing.
