Email notifications
Deliver HowlOps incident and recovery notifications to an email address.
On this page
Email is a live, self-service channel on every plan. HowlOps sends through its managed transactional-email provider; you do not supply SMTP credentials.
Set it up
- Open Integrations → Channels, choose Email, and enter one recipient address.
- Save the channel, then choose Send test and confirm the message arrives.
- Add one channel per mailbox or distribution list and select it in an escalation step or use broadcast routing.
Opening, update, recovery, and test messages follow the workspace event matrix and the channel's event filters. Email cannot acknowledge or resolve an incident by replying; use the signed link in the message or HowlOps. Delivery status means the provider accepted the message, not that a human read it.
Security and troubleshooting
Use a controlled distribution list for team paging and review its membership regularly. No HowlOps credential is placed in the recipient mailbox. If mail is missing, check spam/quarantine, the address, channel enabled state, event filters, quiet hours, escalation timing, and Notification delivery log. See Email delivery and unsubscribe and Missing notifications.
